Young Carers

Useful links and contacts for young carers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire:

A young carer is someone who helps look after a family member or friend who may have a medical condition or be neurodivergent, such as being autistic, having ADHD, or other differences that affect thinking, learning, or processing information.

Young carers often take on responsibilities that go beyond what is typical for their age, and this can include supporting with daily routines like getting dressed or preparing meals, offering emotional support when things feel overwhelming, calming situations during stressful moments, or helping with appointments and schoolwork.

These tasks can sometimes feel challenging and may impact school, friendships, and personal time. However, it’s important to know that you are not alone.

There is support available to help you manage your caring role while still enjoying life as a young person.

These services can provide advice, practical help, and opportunities to connect with others who understand what you are going through.
